Writing and Gen AI

Writing with integrity has always raised interesting and complex questions such as, when is a paraphrase an accurate representation of another's idea but effectively recommunicated through the new author's words? When is technical language expected to be used verbatim? What is accepted in a particular context as common knowledge? The list goes on.

In our current age of AI, these simple questions persist and new questions have arisen about what is allowed, when it is allowed, what is effective, when it is effective, and how do we as students, teachers, researchers, and communicators navigate these new challenges effectively.

We offer the following presentation to students and instructors as a means of starting and continuing conversations about these complex questions.
