Biography
Zachary Barber is an assistant professor in the Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program. Zachary earned his PhD in philosophy, which informs his teaching, his work with incarcerated students in the Rochester Education Justice Initiative (REJI), and his writing and research. His courses are always philosophically themed, examining subjects such as the ethics of language, mindfulness meditation and Buddhism, and the relationship between writing and living well. He teaches one course per semester in local prisons. He is also coordinator for Writing Consultants working in REJI, training and overseeing graduate students as they tutor incarcerated populations in college writing. Zachary conducts research in philosophy related to ethics and Buddhist practice.
