TUP Graduate Student Ambassador

The Top University Preparatory Program (TUP) offers a TUP Graduate Student Ambassador position for full-time University of Rochester graduate students. Responsibilities include providing communication support between TUP students and the UR Community and assisting TUP students with their academic records and UR online portal applications such as with ISO, UHS, and URStudent. Additionally, TUP Ambassadors support TUP students with their academic study through tutoring or mentoring sessions. Typical modes of student interaction may be in-person, remote meetings, or by email.

About Top University Preparatory Program (TUP)

The TUP is a program run through the University of Rochester’s Writing, Speaking and Argument Program. The program offers courses fall and spring semester to non-matriculated Chinese students who are preparing for future college admission. While enrolled in TUP, students are completing their last year of high school.

Job responsibilities include the following:

Specific duties for fall semester:

  • Assist students with UR email/duo set-up.
  • Assist students with ISO portal Compass navigation and registration.
  • Assist students with UHS portal Connect set-up.
  • Assist students with transcript retrieval.
  • Offer students weekly tutoring or mentoring office hours.
  • Support and work with fellow TUP Ambassadors.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with TUP Director.

Specific duties for spring semester:

  • Assist students with compiling their tax forms.
  • Assist students with submitting materials for SEVIS transfer-out record transfer.
  • Assist students with transcript retrieval.
  • Offer students weekly tutoring or mentoring office hours.
  • Support and work with fellow TUP Ambassadors.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with TUP Director.

Compensation

Graduate Student Ambassador compensation is $18 an hour. Candidates should expect to work a minimum of 5 hours per week and not to exceed 15 hours per week.
