EAPP Courses
EAPP consists of interconnected courses that focus on critical reading, reasoning, writing, and communication skills. Each semester, along with EAPP courses, students typically take two additional courses of their choosing. EAPP students satisfy the Primary Writing Requirement (PWR) by earning a “C” or better in WRTG 103: Critical Reading, Reasoning, and Writing and WRTG 104: Research, Reading, and Writing.
WRTG 101: Communication across Contexts I and WRTG 103: Critical Reading, Reasoning, and Writing are taken together in the fall semester. These two courses have coordinated themes and topics that show the relationship between communication skills in WRTG 101 and critical thinking, reading, and writing in WRTG 103.
WRTG 102: Communication across Contexts II and WRTG 104: Research, Reading, and Writing are taken together in the spring semester. WRTG 102 continues to emphasize communication skills, and WRTG 104 focuses on research methods and writing from sources. A research paper is required in WRTG 104.
Grading and Credit Structure
EAPP courses are graded using traditional letter grades. All EAPP grades are calculated into the students' grade point averages.
WRTG 101 and 102 each carries two credits. WRTG 103 and WRTG 104 each carries six credits. No more than 10 EAPP credits may be counted toward the degree.
