JOB TITLE:  Temporary Coordinator for the Writing Center and Graduate Writing Project
(August 1, 2014-December 22, 2014)

The Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program invites applications for an individual to serve as a temporary coordinator of the Writing Center and assistant coordinator for the Graduate Writing Project. Following a brief training period, this position will begin in August 2014. As a coordinator/assistant coordinator, this individual will participate in all WSAP staff meetings.

Qualifications: This position is open to all University of Rochester graduate students in good academic standing from any discipline and in any year of their program. Candidates should have experience tutoring in the Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program. Please note that preference will be given to those with both teaching and tutoring experience and to those who have worked with or participated in the GWP.

Salary: $8,000

Position Details and Application Process Follow

Coordinator of the Writing Center
Approximately 8 weeks (late-August – late-October)

The temporary coordinator of the Writing Consultants will manage and oversee the operations of the consultants from late-August through late-October. Duties will include:

  • Training new consultants
  • Addressing Writing Consultant needs
  • Managing the Writing Consultant schedule and database
  • Conducting periodic staff meetings with Writing Consultants
  • Reviewing, proofing, and sending session summaries
  • Consulting with Deb as needed

Assistant Coordinator of the Graduate Writing Project
(August 1, 2014 – December 21, 2014)

The temporary coordinator will assist the lead coordinator in planning, preparing for, and facilitating Graduate Writing Project activities from August through December, such as workshops, dissertation boot camps, and writing groups. Duties will include:

  • Assisting with boot camps, including preparing materials and tutoring during boot camps
  • Assisting with workshops, including scheduling, announcing events, preparing for and setting up events, and assisting during the workshop
  • Assisting with writing groups, including group visits (as needed)
  • Staff meetings for GWP (as needed)
