JOB TITLE: Assistant Director, Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program
University of Rochester invites applications for an Assistant Director of the Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program, to begin July 1, 2011. We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in a relevant field, experience in program administration, an established primary commitment to teaching, as well as an interest in research.
Position responsibilities include
- managing the Writing and Speaking Center [WSC], which involves hiring, training, and overseeing tutors for in-person and virtual support services,
- coordinating the program’s annual writing colloquium contest,
- coordinating Writing Workshop courses (WRT 108 and the extension component of WRT 105E),
- serving as a liaison for Rochester’s Early Opportunity Connection Program,
- communicating with faculty and staff across the college about WSC services,
- teaching Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program courses, and more generally,
- collaborating with Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program members to strengthen the program.
Teaching load includes 4 Writing, Speaking, and Argument Program courses, typically 2 in the fall and 2 in the spring.
Appointment: Lecturer in Writing, Assistant Director, 10-month contract, 3-year renewable.
